Ben Li (Xiangyu Li), an emerging film director, screenwriter, and producer, obtained his bachelor's degree in 2019 from the Communication University of China. Currently, he is pursuing a master's degree in Film and Television at the Savannah College of Art and Design.
Ben was born in China in 1997. His interest in the arts began at the age of 5, and he started studying painting and fine arts, accumulating over a decade of experience in traditional painting. In addition to traditional painting, Ben developed a strong interest in various other art forms, showcasing his talents in architecture and sculpture, music and visual arts, as well as film and performing arts.
At the age of 18, Ben's passion for film led him to embark on the path of learning about filmmaking. In 2019, he created the animated short film "The Clothing" which tells a brave story of self-identity and marginalized communities. The film was selected by numerous international film festivals, earning four awards and seven nominations, including Best Short Film, and accumulated over 800,000 views on the internet.
As of 2023, Ben has written and directed numerous live-action short films, including the music video "Porcelain," the family comedy "BARBARA," the tragedy "The Man By The Sea," among others.
He is currently in the process of producing a psychological thriller "Aphrodite," scheduled to begin filming in 2024.
